White Haven

We were thrilled to find another Jr. Ranger badge-earning possibility here close to home. Even better to go with the bestie and her kiddos.

White Haven was the home of Ulysses and Julia Grant. While we’ve been to Grant’s Farm dozens of times, we’ve somehow never visited this National Park! I’m glad we had a chance to remedy that because it was really well done.

Visitors are allowed to walk through the 1st floor of the Grant’s home, as well as the basement kitchen, the outdoor kitchens, and the chicken coop. The barn was converted into a well-done museum, and the visitor’s center has a 20-minuted video that I, personally, enjoyed. The grounds were really pretty. I’d love to go back and just walk Grant’s trail.

There was a good bit of writing involved, but all the kids finished their books and received their badges! They all did a great job!
